if your leaves are turning yellow, and they're still soft, it could be 'root rot'. It is caused by too much watering and/or not enough draining.

Be careful of the Bind Weed aka wild morning glory, it is almost impossible to get rid of and it will take over your garden. White roots grow underground and a tiny piece left in the ground will grow and don't let it go to seed it will spread…

Garden Clean Up

Today I weeded my garden... mostly... one of the flower beds has been taken over by some sort of wild morning glory. There are millions of them! With all the rain we have been getting it was fairly easy to get the weeds out of the ground. Except for the dandelions, but they are will always be a problem. Is it weird that I kind of like them? They just seem so happy.Speaking of rain.... there is a crazy thunderstorm outside that seems to be impeding my gardening... Oh well... the weeds will always…See More

On My Way!

Posted on May 27, 2009 at 10:00am 0 Comments

So I am leaving to visit some Zone 8 plants that would never in one million years be caught growing in my Zone 4. Well they might, but not for very long.....

Hopefully I will get to share some photos of my trip while I am gone. If not there will be bunches when I get back. I am going to try to make some videos while I am gone just to see if I can... so look out!

I am Taking a Trip

Posted on May 26, 2009 at 12:00pm 0 Comments

I am leaving my garden tomorrow to take a trip to Portland OR to visit my friends and celebrate my 30th birthday. I think the Rose Garden there is in full bloom right now. I you love roses they that is a must see destination! They grow all kinds of roses and test new kinds too.

I am worried that something will happen while I am away. Nothing will, I am almost positive. The sun will shine, the the sprinklers will sprinkle, my dad will take care of anything that goes wrong. There is… Continue

The Race is On!

Posted on May 21, 2009 at 11:08pm 0 Comments

So yesterday my dad casually mentions that we should grow pumpkins because we haven't grown pumpkins in years. I am slightly taken back by this remark because I asked 100 times if he wanted to plant anything else in the garden....eye roll.

Today I went out and purchased a variety of pumpkin seeds: giant pumpkin, jack o'lanterns, mini pumpkins and these crazy white pumpkins I haven't ever seen before and we planted them in the two unoccupied garden beds.

Now we are having a… Continue

I enjoyed reading all of your blogs. What is it about our spring weather, anyway? Oh, well spring is always full of surprises (and my favorite season, by far). I like all of your bird pictures as well. I have always wanted to put up more feeders for them, but worry about our cats~ the monsters are always on the prowl for little feathered snacks :^)

You certainly can use me as a resource on your project - stepping stones are fun to do!! Are you planning on casting your pavers? The sticky shelf paper works on stepping stones too!

Our Spring has been crazy here in Omaha, too. Now we have your 87 degrees today with a warm breeze. I planted some balloon flowers from my neighbor ,Sherry. I'd better give them another good drink.

THis is where we all began...it is so addictive...you will have so much fun! I got the bug years ago when I helped my G'ma in her gardens...I so looked forward to Thursday afternoons...we would spend the whole afternoon working, laughing, crying, singing, canning....all those memories are imbedded in my soul! She wrote alot of poetry and made me a handwritten book of all of her poems.
