I have been raising iris for many years and this year I have become interested in trying my had at hybridizing my own variety all because of a delay in deadheading the Siberian iris a couple of years ago. I vaguely remember breaking off the brown seedpods and tossing them into the bed. I usually am very good about disposing of the dead flowers before the seedpod forms because it drains the plant and I want the plant to put out more babies to fill the garden...especially in this new bed.
