Hydrangeas

A place to connect with other hydrangea aficionados. It is a bit of a challenge to grow hydrangeas in zone 6b but in those lucky, mild winter years I am rewarded with stunning displays. Forums below contain useful info for easy reference.See More

Drying hydrangeas

Posted on July 7, 2010 at 4:57pm 2 Comments

My hydrangeas are spectacular and I want to dry them for winter bouquets to place in my baskets? I dry them in a vase with no water? If any one has some tips...... they are welcome! PS; someone told me to dry upside down in the basement like my herbs.......a disaster :)

Pruning Roses.

My roses love my soil and flourish under my care although I don't think I properly prune them! I could use advice.

Hi Jo Jo -Thank you for your well wishes. I hope that you had a wonderful holiday also.

I read your request for "Sage" and i will do a discussion on pruning of rose bushes. I have been thinking about it. Here in So-Cal it is almost time to start ours.

Herer is one of my favorite irises. It is called "Breakers"

Hi Jo Jo,
I have not spent much time on GI lately either. For the last week I have been battling a nasty cold so not much joy here. Fall was beautiful and we had a great outing to White Gardens in So. Salem. Jamie and I plan to revisit the place in April for their spectacular daffodil display and I will post about it on Titacus. After Christmas they might be fun show at NY Botanical Gardens. Have a fabulous holidays and stay tuned.
Regards, Wanda

Hi Jo Jo, The pink flowering tree in my back yard is a crepe myrtle. It grows mainly in zones 7 - 9. In Zone 5 it is likely to die back. Check with your nursery. They may know of a crepe myrtle shrub that might be hardy enough to make it. You could probably grow lilac trees where you are. Those don't do as well here. I have one and it hasn't bloomed once. It looks very sick.): Have a great week!:D Michelle
