Clematis wilt

Its a fungal thing spread by spores from alot of wet weather and the plant twining to close and making a big display, it is not a thing that attacks the roots but drastic measures await the gardener. It is a thing that cuts off water from it main roots and one day it looks sick, but there is a way to prevent and cure this. 1st as soon as you notice the main stems getting a reddish tint on them its time to go to work, so lets get to work now by cutting off all infected canes to the ground. good morning John, my master gardner friend, i have a question maybe you could help, since i planted lots of shrubs that are only a foot high i need to fill up space inbetween them to make the bed look fullerI till they grow up.i like the the earth tone colors and all n full sun i have barberrys(red) and a spirea mix any clues what i could plant between them? cant wait to get a camera so i could show you all the hard work ive done its starting to come together ..SLOWLY...
