Garden Warfare Weapon

"I use this to repel animals away fr my newly planted gladioli. If it would only repel careless cable workers! Do you have any other ideas for using it in the garden?"

Found this garden helper on Craig's List. Sure made making my imaginary garden a reality and real cheap too! Sure beats using 'The Claw' for this area!!

I have tasted Elderberry jam, with apples mixed in and it was great. I know where some more e-berries in a vacant lot that I hope to harvest as well. I have read the elderberries have some home style medicinal purpose as well, such as preventing the flu.

Morning Diggy, hehe I've heard blood meal will work also, going to check my bales today, see if feels like it's decomposting, was thinking of going ahead and adding some compost to the top also, if it don't start raining. Of course, how much I get done will depend on how well my body will cooperate, lol, stiff and sore this morning. We hauled a pickup load of cinder blocks yesterday and got a free porch swing/stand out of the deal, wohoo!

Good Morning Judi! Well your more industrious than I am this morning....hurry up coffee!!
Glad to find others trying the straw bale methods, we can learn together and share our experiences. Hmm maybe we should start a straw bale group here. How did you find out about this method of gardening, are you conditioning your bales with nitrogen or letting Mother Nature do it for you? I'm going the Mother Nature route, but as I don't have soaker hoses, am having to water each day, have 20 bales.

Mmmmm, coffee!

I laid down cardboard on the ground several months ago, in hopes of not having to weed, guess I didn't weigh it down enough as I'm finding a few patches of grass that sneaked through, good thing I'm home all day, lol Like you, I could spend all day out, as it is, I can't seem to keep myself busy all day doing things I want to do. Tight budget, not having all the supplies needed, not as enthused spouse, and me no longer able to drive are really trying my patience at times. But do what I can with what I have and have so many projects I want to do that DH is rolling his eyes, lol.

Lets keep in touch so we can share our experiences.
