Thank you Cindy and Cynthia.

I have to say though that the soil here is so amazing, perfect black loam and anything stuck in it will grow like crazy. I'm in heaven!

Hey Juli, My husband took my daughter and I to Italy for our 20th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. Those planters we so pretty in that picture you saw. I wish I had large ones like those myself. I like the Crepe Myrtles too. I have a small back yard so they fit in well back there. Have a great day!

I use to work for one of those home improvement stores and would order the tropicals from Florida.  The cost of the plants before they came to the store were $5.00 and they would sell them for a much higher price.  Don't know why they…

Garden Indoors With House Plants

I know I've talked a lot recently about house plants. I guess it's because I'm surrounded by them because we have to bring so many of our plants in for the winter.I know you've seen the house plants for sale at the home improvement stores. Some of them can get pretty pricey, but if you're getting a really nice, large, healthy…See More

Garden Design Tip – Walk On Pathways, Not In Garden Beds

2011 - Path beside grape arbor with herb bed on right.A great garden design will have permanent pathways, and stepping stones…for walking and stepping. If garden beds, flower and vegetable, are kept narrow enough,  then there is less temptation to walk on the soil of the bed. If the area is too wide, it’s best to place stepping stones. Most plants like well drained soil. Walking…See More

Winter Cheer - Garden Pictures

When it's freezing cold outside and the snow is blowing and I know there is still 4 long months until I can really "garden" again, I start looking through pictures of last years garden. It's really fun to compare them with the pictures of our garden the year before, to see how things have progressed. The grape vines had made it…See More

Hi Catherine, It sounds like you have a cross between a greenhouse and a potting shed. A greenhouse is on my wish list. By the way, I do have a potting shed, but that isn't it...any longer. When I sold my house and moved west, I gave up my…

Pottimg Area or Potting Shed – Luxury or Necessity?

Every gardener, whether a newbie or old timer, needs a place for gardening activities and a place to keep their gardening supplies and tools. Whether it’s a little corner in your garage or in a garden shed in the yard, it’s nice to have a designated spot for doing things gardeners do, such as re-potting root bound plants, mixing up some potting mix or other potions or pruning and tending potted plants. It’s also very nice to have all of your gardening supplies and tools in one place, so when…See More

Glad to know there are other dreamers out there. I, too, would love to have a sitting area in my dream greenhouse so that I could spend time relaxing and enjoying...and dreaming.

I know...how could our lives get any busier. Right? It's hard to remember every single thing we need to, or want to do.

Besides, who pays that much attention to what's going on in the yard in the dead of winter, when it's cold and miserable out there. It can be a nuisance to trudge outside, into the cold…
