"Sharon, mine are coming up this year better than they have in the past 5 years, since I transplanted them from my old house.  More stems coming up, healthier looking...I have high hope that this year I will have blooms again finally.  So…"

Hydrangeas

A place to connect with other hydrangea aficionados. It is a bit of a challenge to grow hydrangeas in zone 6b but in those lucky, mild winter years I am rewarded with stunning displays. Forums below contain useful info for easy reference.See More

"I have two clematis that have dropped their leaves for the winter and they look pretty ugly. D-o you prune them back in the winter and let them re-vine each year? One starts out really well in the spring and grows to about 6 feet and produces…"

I am recently retired, and find myself with the time to finally get out in the yard and work on some long dreamed about projects. One big problem is not knowing where to begin. I start on one thing, then see something that needs to be done first, so I feel like I'm running around a lot and not getting much accomplished. Judy, Look for your county extension office and ask it they have a Master Gardener program. Our classes start in January or February, go for 40 hours to about May. I joined MG with retirement in mind. I am still working but at the time I joined I was recently divorced, looking at an empty nest and needed to find new friends. My network is huge now!
