- yeah, we had a rooster that was not friendly and ended up on the dinner table. His name was come to dinner. haha Anyway, the ones that I have left are great. Today they are running around for a bit and then having a dust bath under a tree to get cool from the 90+ weather.

- great reading material. Its wonderful to have a friend that knows so much about chickens/roosters. I have had mine for 6 years and I feel that I know them too. Except, my are pets, bad, bad, bad. Now, I have never eaten one of my pets and still wonder what its like to eat a chicken that was not at the grocery store. Every animal I get, I fall head over heals but know everything about them, personality, etc. oh well.

I just lost my Elie, I believe a hawk took her.
I have ordered more chick due on the 19th.
I have a orpington that had gone broodie last year but never hatched any out (I didn't isolate her and she gave up after 20 day's)
Do you think I can use her as a momma to the newbies?
Should I give her a little something to make her drowsie when I add them? should I add them right away or wait a night or two?
