Unfortunately the new owner removed the entire garden and bricked it like a patio. Even cut the beautiful crepe myrtles down. I almost threw up!!!!

Ever try 1 cup Epsom Salts worked into the soil in the Spring? I just heard about it and am going to try it on my roses.

Julia, It upsets me that I also spend (my husband's) money on bird seed, suets, and special feeders...also a fence to "keep" my dogs in their yard. Also to keep the younger neighborhood children (unwatched) out and away from my Min Pins. Being a vet you can also understand how easy it is to make a dog do things it dosen't usually do with family members. When kids put there face and hands on the fence and throw things in the yard, etc. My dogs just want to play but when teased they will jump and nip. I told the neighbors I will not be responsible for there unattended children if they get bit. They laugh and walk away. Just who is responsible? Happy to say that the CAT is STUCK in the house on the windowsill looking out. Don't get me wrong...I love cats and always had 2 at a time until we moved and got the dogs. I have caught many many cats in my lifetime and get them fixed and found homes for them...basiclly I got them off the train tracks and streets and out of the bad neighborhoods to live long and happy lives. I have only ever had strays that ended up being the most loving cats. My last two lived to be 20 and 18 and my husbands where mom and daugher and they were 19 and 18 when we had to put them to sleep. Well again I went on and on. Thanks for your comment and kudos to you for be a vet. It was my dream when younger but did not have the money for an education other than the "school of hard knocks"

gorgeous... the rain we have had up here has absolutely wrecked my roses (and I'm not that good with them as it is)!

You have beautiful gardens. your love of gardening really shows and all the great vegetables. We got a late start here in Northern IL but now it is really hot and the tomatoes are taking off. Thanks for sharing your garden photos.

And I just thought I had a good plan for my back yard. Your gardens are just like the ones I pay to go see when I'm on vacation. I am planning a children's garden for my grandchildren. I have an old wooden boat that I'm turning into a sandbox. I think I'll plant cat mint behind it and something tough right in front for water. I keep telling myself that you are months ahead of us out here. My garden hits its peak in August.
