"what a beautiful garden and pottery. I saw a comment about hostas and deer you made. I would love to have them but even with electric fence 2 dogs, the deer still come through in the wee hours and keep my yard trimmed. There are a lot here in WV"

Thanks, Karen. It is a work in progress. I just got through viewing your garden. You also have a very nice garden. I found gardenersindex about a week ago on facebook. It is unbelievable how small the world has gotten, technology bringing us together with a common interest.

Thinking of you and wondering how you are doing with your back? Hope it is beginning to get better for you. I am starting to feel a little better but am guarded as to if it will last.....Your pictures are just lovely...Love the cat & the dog too! Is the purple vine Wisteria? I have never had any success with it!

Thanks so much for the info on the bat house. Have one laying in the garage for 3 years now that we haven't put up because we didn't want to just climb up a tree and nail it there. We have bats around that roost out in our woods somewhere I think but would like to put up a house where we can maybe watch them come and go.

Hey new friend! I'm a newby to gardening and I love this site. I kept clicking on your pictures, so I thought it was time :-) I think this is a great way to see what other people are doing and get great ideas.

What fun, I enjoyed the tour of your whimsical garden. I identified your mystery plant as princess spirea. That's what it looks like to me. I have one in my yard.

Karen, no stupid questions ever. Funny sunflower story...the vegetable garden is about an acre in size. Hubby plants 1/2 each year in vegetables and switches to the other half the next year. One year I planted a few sunflowers in the non veggy side. Haven't planted another one since...5 years of volunteers, planted where they fell or where the birds left the seed. We don't harvest, let nature take is course.
We are organic and one of the pictures shows this years supply of cow manure, ready to spread onto the at present, non veggy side come Spring of 2010. Our cows must have some potent fertilizing capabilities.

"Hi Cindi, glad you like them, but oh no. Most Bowling balls are much too heavy for me. I use those big foam balls from the craft store. Much lighter and easier to work with, and you can stick things in them. Put on a coat of adhesive grout…"
