Hi Karen,  That's one of my favorite names...noticed you are now a "vine" member.  Welcome aboard!  Hope you enjoy and benefit from this group...always wanted a heated birdbath but with my 8 cats am thinking I don't want to encourage birds in the yard for their sake but it's hard to do as I've always fed the birds.  Had to put a bell on my youngest cat for bird alert!

That is so sad. At least you tried to save her. I am probably seeing them because food is scarce this time of year. I also have a heated birdbath  so  the bird and squirrels can get water. ( and anything else that wanders in the yard! LOL)

Hi Karen,

That is interesting , i didn't know that about them. It is a male, he has a red dot. He came back today , but I haven't seen the female. I usually get some woodpeckers and thats what I thought he was at first, but he was too brown so I got out my bird book.

Welcome to Garden-Share! You might want to start by checking out the Group page for more garden-related groups and topics you may be interested in. Joining a few more groups is a great way to meet other gardeners and get started on Garden-Share.

Then please participate! Groups are the best places to ask questions and share your knowledge about gardening.

Also, there are Videos to watch (how-to, humor), Blogs to read (informative, entertaining), Photos to look at (beautiful, unusual, inspiring), and new friends to meet. If you have photos (or videos) of your plants or garden, please share them - I'd love to see your photos!

PS - If you have a photo that you could use as your profile photo, please upload that, too.

Again, welcome! :)
