"Good info! Thanks for taking the time to show a step by step. I've always taken mine all the way out of the ground before dividing, didn't think about using the transplant shovel to just take out a section."

"I forgot to include you need to make a place for it to feed into by making a small channel and I do have under the driveway a pipe that will lead water from one side to the other."

"How a rain garden works is a great question. I have lots of sitting water in the winter, so the areas that lake up I dug out about 1 1/2" deep and improved drainage in that spot by adding sand and small rock then created a pond like spot. I put…"

upcoming wedding

Good morning everyone! I am planning my wedding! After looking at wonderful garden venues around here, I realized driving up my own drive why not have it in my garden. I know this sounds stressful, but not really. Half the front yard is ready and I know what I want to do with the rest. Just thinking about it.

This front bed has changed so much in 5 years. I just pulled out a huge overgrown juniper type shrub and my dad gave me 3 roses for my birthday. I think they will grow in nicely.

Well my septic guy came and said how old this thing? That sort of scared me. Everything worked out fine though. Haven't filled it back in yet, my 9 year old son is playing fort in the dirt over there.

Love living in the country but wish there were sewers! Septic systems can be a headache...mine is about 28 years old and I wonder what is the life of a system? Thank you for the comments about my gardens, I kinda consider them as groupings of flowers and a bit of a hodge podge with plants "rescued" at seasons end got good prices..would like them to be more artistic and complimentary. I guess that is not a bad goal. I am in zone 5 near Albany NY, where are you from?

Thanks Kathleen for liking my first photo. I have added new ones to my page. I hope you like these as well. I work very hard on my gardens and love the feel I get when I walk the property.

Thank you, Kathleen! Everything I do in the garden is by trial and error, so I have learned the hard way, and I am still learning. And loving every minute of it!
