"Water is the problem; if they are potted you can get them into a dry spot for a bit. They really like to dry out in between. Mine got nipped by frost and leaves turned brown. Best, Kathy"

Can anyone tell me why my Saucer Magnolia does not bloom? It has been in my yard for 3 years, in a clearing in the woods. Thanks, kathy

If you have a late frost, it will kill the buds. Also harsh winters will kill the buds. They are not a northern plant in nature. They bloom so early that winter is still about. I am from MI and we have a problem of them not blooming. We can usually trace it back to a late frost or a hard winter. Especially if it was windy. They set their buds in the fall. Therefore, winter damage is a problem
