"Hi!  I've been gardening for several years, but don't really know what I'm doing.  I do okay with herbs, but anything else and I'm basically lost.  I'm hoping I can learn more here. :-)  "

I've posted some pictures from the Oregon Coast and a couple of my yard. More to come as I find them and as I can find some more recent ones. Amazing how many are from when I had the large evergreen in the backyard!

Changes in the Yard

With the next couple of years looking to be very busy and like we will have a lack of time to be in the yard, I devised a plan to get rid of many of the plants which have been problematic or will need too much care. We live on a quarter acre and have several trees in our yard. With 5 cats, 2 dogs, 2 children (aged 8 and almost 7), a hamster, a husband going into his 3rd year of Vet school, and myself working to become a teacher, things are going to be too busy to deal with a lot of the high… Continue

I'm looking for some advice on how to get rid of some Red Hot Poker plants. They are along my back fence and we had them removed a few years ago but apparently some of the rhizomes remained because they came back with a vengence. The only time of year I ever like them is when they bloom and the birds come and settle on them. The rest of the year they are an eyesore to me and a pain. They bring slugs, snakes, and all sorts of bugs and vermin to my yard because they are so overgrown and unruly.… Continue
