Tagawa Gardens I work at Tagawa Gardens in Colorado. It is a wonderful garden center. The staff are great and very helpful. The customers are a joy to assist. It is such a relaxing, cheerful place to "work".We offer free classes on an assortment of topics that pertain to gardening in Colorado. I love working there, I joke and say that I am being paid for my therapy because it is such a pleasure to work there.

First Day of Spring 2012

Posted on March 20, 2012 at 2:28pm 0 Comments

It's spring.  A new growing season is coming.  I am back at the garden center, so I know for sure it's spring.  The weather has been ridiculously warm.. so people are coming into the garden center ready to plant their plants.  No, Not Yet.  Too early.  I sure would love to see some moisture.  In Colorado, March is supposed to be our snowiest season, well, there hasn't been much snow, and we aren't even getting rain.  I hope it's not going to be another dry year!!!

I am excited…

Spring is Warming UP

Posted on April 23, 2011 at 9:05am 1 Comment

Last couple of weeks have been out in the garden cleaning up for summer. Looking over last years plantings checking out which ones made it and which ones didn't. So far it would appear that most have made it through the winter. Lost one newly planted rose, Perfect Moment. It is such a beautiful bloom that I had to replace it. It is right now in the garage slowly acclimating to the outdoor weather and soon I will put it in the ground.

I also bought a climbing white rose,…

Growing a Gardener (part one)

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 10:28am 2 Comments

Can't say that I woke up one day and said... "Gee, when I grow up I'm going to be a gardener". As it has just always been a part of my life. A part of my life without even making a conscious commitment to be a gardener.

As a child living on a farm, working the earth and tending plants was a way of life. But farming on a large scale is not really the same as gardening.  Tending a garden is more intimate and personal. My father farmed, but he also gardened. My mother gardened, her part…

2011- A New Year

Posted on February 5, 2011 at 10:09pm 0 Comments

Just now posting for the new year. WOW, it is already February. Planning for the new growing season. Have some hardscaping work to on the agenda for this year. Was looking over photos from last growing season... hoping my new plants make it through their first winter... it was a mild winter to start and has flipped to cold, with snow... so that's good.

You have some beautiful flowers and the water fall is so pretty.

I love irises, you have some beautiful ones! Mine were newly planted and I'm waiting for the spring of 2012  for them to bloom. Maybe I could trade you some for the white with purple at top if you see one of mine that you like in the spring.

Kristi, You have a way with orchids. I've not seen any that beautiful that weren't at a florist. You have a lot of nice tulips and garden areas. I really enjoyed visiting your albums. Jo Bowling
