I am the most fortunate of people to be able to finally retire to the rural acreage we love surrounded by mountains, horses, children and my lovely Lady Saphira. We comb the trails every day & watch the stars by night. Truly magnificent!
"Thanks for your response! My husband does not participate in my "sport" except to look out the window now & then. Fortunately, I have lots of neighbors & church members that come & look when I ask. Nothing is visible from the…"
How much time do you spend a week on average in your garden when weather permits?
What is your favorite plant ? Why?
Iris! Roses have too many thorns and iris have many more color choices plus they take such great photos. The multi color ones have an almost tie-dye quality in the centers!! Some have fragrance, some might bloom twice a year if you have enough sun. They can be divided & shared. . .

Hi Lorraine - looking through some of your photographs and they are beautiful - such a variety of plants and gorgeous colours - you appear to have a very big garden - in comparison mine is quite small, but I pack a lot of plants into it, lots of colour at this time of year - it has been a difficult year here for growing and the weather is still very changeable.
Hi Lorraine! Thanks for the friend request. Yes, the rain and heat did a number in the garden! The extra rain allowed for many "volunteers" which ended up filling whole beds! But some plants burned up in high heat and too much rain also made getting into veg. garden difficult. I am in Ohio. Has it affected your gardens? :)
Yes we do have lots in common! I grew-up in Innis Arden. Married 1st time and lived in Medina and favorite place to shop was Well's Medina Nursery! Bought our Woodinville property in 1980 and began landscape 2 years before the foundation for our home was poured. We should plan a show and tell walk through both yours and my garden! I love what you have shared!
Hi Lorraine, Thanks for the friend request, I have really been having a hard time with my health ,Had surgery 2 months ago and will have another the 7th of May and when I'm healed and strong again I will have another and I pray that will be the end of surgery's I am so tired of it. My poor garden is so neglected and looks terrible. I have quite a crop of wild onions out there my cousin was here visiting for a few days and told me I should gather them and bag'em up and sell them . I got a good laugh from that. But I really hate those things. any ide how to get rid of them. chat later take care
Thanks Lorraine, we just moved here out in Maltby (Flower World area) this past June from Redmond just 10 min. away from here. I wanted a large yard so I could garden and have someplace for our dogs to play in. I've got an acre to play with, in the fall we built my husband a workshop and finished it before the rains came. Next will be a greenhouse for me in the back yard. I've been doing a lot of cleanup before spring arrives. Pruning all the plants, some needed much needed thinning, so I've been busy doing that. My bulbs are coming up, can't wait to see the colors.
I hope to meet some more gardeners from the NW. Happy Valentine's Day. Gabriele
