Hi Luci,
You can both freeze and dry it for later use. For freezing place in ice cube trays and top with water, then store cubes in a zip-lock freezer bag. I prefer to dry mine as my freezer space is limited. There are different drying processes,…
I have had the flowers start to bloom and niped them off before they bloom full and had good luck .I really don't know if this is a fact to keep them true to flavor but as so many require that I just do it automatically
No it does not mean it is passed time to use. It does mean the current growth is getting old and the plant needs trimmed back. Also, if the climate is to hot for basil, it is indicating that the plant is getting ready to bolt. If the current growth…
I use some of them when I make pesto; just throw them in with the leaves. The bees love them so I pinch them off of all but one plant and leave that one for the bees. They really love the African basil.
Hey, Kiddo! How you doing? As you probably know I spoke with your mother and sent her an email. I haven't heard back from her yet.
How's your weather up there? We've atarted to get a drop in temps the last few days. Only in the 60s…
I don't know the answer to this but I sure will look forward to what others have to say. I would think that freezing would be the best. I have heard about freezing herbs in ice cube trays which might work with mint. Looking forward to hearing…
Hey Everyone! My name is Luci. I moved to Ohio almost 2 yrs ago from florida with my husband and we absolutely love it up here. This is my first year with a real garden, so far everything is growing although it's not this huge mass that I…
Luci-Ann, They will stay fresh for several days if you pick them, put them in a Green Bag and refrigerate them. If you leave them on the vine they will over ripen and become bitter.
I have probably at least 3 large pickling cukes and I'm wondering if anyone knows how long they would stay fresh after I pick them. I want to make pickles but don't have enough for the recipe. I'm not sure if I should pick the ones I have now or wait for more to grow. luci

What do you do for fun in such a land-locked state? I tried living away from the ocean but just couldn't make it. I definitely need to be within "smelling" distance of the ocean.
Obviously you have an area to do gardening. You're lucky. I live in a 4 apartment "house" that is part of a larger apartment complex and they won't allow us to use part of our back yard to plant. I tried doing tomatoes in the window last year but I had to fertilize each flower with w tiny paint brush and even then thay didn't all produce tomatoes. I got about 5 in all. None was even as big as a tennis ball!
What have you grown? How long is your growinf season?
I just got a nee laptop computer! It's great. Has a 16" screen and 320Gb of hard drive. Everything is built in including the web-cam and speakers. I love it.
Well, hope you and your husband are well and enjoying life.
Always,
Lee
