I grow sage in my flower gardens, I love the purple flowers it has and the leaves are pretty too. All I ever do is cut it back. It always come back for me.

The gardeners big delemma, To plant or not to plant...

Posted on July 2, 2009 at 8:37am 0 Comments

Just kidding their really is never a question with me. The question is what to plant. Rainy days can be very dangerous for me. I generally go on the p/c and look for things to plant, new ideas and how to's. So living in New England especially this year the weather man has given me this opportunity to surf. I have a new flower bed going in in the front of the house, something I haven't done in 8 yrs. We did have some shrubs their but because of the pitch of my roof the winter snow destoyed them.… Continue

Garden trash or treasure?

Posted on June 29, 2009 at 9:16am 4 Comments

I've put up a few photo's of the things my husband and I make for the garden. He's a great help to me not only does he do most of the brunt work but he also helps me with my garden junk projects. We make teacup bird feeders, they look great in the garden even when they don't have bird seed or butterfly food in them. We also make concrete bird baths from large leaves, such as burdock or rhubarb. I hope you enjoy them, would love to hear what you thought. Lyn…

Pooped out!

Posted on June 23, 2009 at 6:42pm 0 Comments

Today finally no rain.:) What a great day to spend in the garden, so I did. I woke up early and went straight at it. I spent 4hrs weeding and pruning. I got so much accomplished , I just love that feeling. Not sure how every one else is doing but here in New Salem, MA we have had nothing but rain for so long. So when you get the chance you go for it.

This week I think I'll be looking for some new hosta. I saw some nice ones from members on this site. This is been a great help to me. Just… Continue

Gardens looking fantastic!!

Posted on June 1, 2009 at 1:38pm 0 Comments

Well this is a great time of year, my garden is looking fantastic and the color is hanging on, as far as the spring plants go the lupine, irises and the peony I guess thats because of the cooler than normal temps were getting here. Today the weather is great about 67 , sunny and breezey. I can't do much today except sit out side and enjoy the humming birds and that breeze. Last Thurs I had surgery on my right shoulder and I'm still not able to use it.… Continue

Hi Lyn, Thanks for your comments on my bird photos.  I take most of my bird photos from my kitchen window.  I have a garden right outside it and put my feeders right where I can keep an out.  I just discovered this year that the finches, hummingbirds & butterflies love the zinnias.  For close ups I use a 70-300 mm lens.  I have a Nikon D5000 camera.

Thanks Lyn, I had to sit in the dinning room and make these pictures. It was about 17 degrees outside. I stayed there about an hour. Thanks again for your nice comments.

My rooster won't go after anyone either, he a scary cat. My Red will, but she is sweet unless you know her. Your husband is allergic to dogs so you got goats? Animals are real companions they never talk back.
