If it's what I had on my zucchini, it's called powdery mildew. Not sure where you are located, but here in NJ we had a lot of rain, and I think that's what did it. From what I read..you have to cut the leaves off that have it or else…

It really sounds like aphids on the plants. Aphids feed on plants by sucking the juices from them. If you have holes in your leaves, your eggplant is being eaten by something else.

Found the culprit! - but what is it?

Hi,Still worrying about my eggplant leaves which are being eaten by something. When I looked closer I saw these little little green crawly bugs (not worms)...about the size of a pin head. Looking closer still I saw white dots that resemble eggs.(I took some pics, but haven't uploaded them yet)I looked at pics of baby japanese beetles, flea beetles and slugs and it doesn't match any of those...any ideas? Thanks!MarionSee More

Iron Phosphate is sold under different brand names, one is slug magic. It's okay to use around vegetables up to the day of havest and is non toxic to pets and wildlife if that is a concern. If your eggplants have tiny scattered holes in the…

BEER! LOL! Get a shallow dish with a lip, and put beer in it. The slugs will go after the beer. From what I hear, Sluggo works well too, and the people on here also say hard mulch like wood chips. We found a box turtle and put him in my flower bed.…

Slugs in the radishes/1/2 eaten eggplant leaves

Thumbnail
Hi all,Now that the New Jersey floods and cool weather have subsided, I am happy to report that I went outside to inspect my flourishing garden (I have yellow flowers all over my tomatoe plants, yeah!).However, when I just moving around the radish area...out crawled a slug! (only one). I have black plastic down, and he immediately moved back under it.In another completely separate raised bed, I noticed that a few eggplants have been chomped on...but I couldn't see any bugs/pests/…See More

Yeah, tomatoes don't like for their blossoms to get wet too much (that's why soaker hoses are essential) or for too long.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The cold and wet just continues here (we had hail last night!)...and I can just sense that my pepper plants are suffering from the cold as well! (But boy oh boy...my zucchini just keeps plugging along!) I'm a…

Hi, Marion. From your description, and what I know of the weather in the Northeast this spring, I'd say the problem is weather-related: too cold temperatures and too much water. Believe it or not, the same thing happened here in Texas last…

Tomato flower buds not flowering

Thumbnail
Hi everyone,Newbie here. I've planted a bunch of tomato plants (Beefsteak, Cherry, Plum, BIg Boy) this year. Especially on the Beefsteak, I notice little buds growing, but then they die before blooming (less than 1/4 inch size). Any ideas? We have had a lot of rain here...or do I need to fertilizer somehow? Thanks!MarionSee More
