Sand Casts

Today a group of my friends got together & made sand castings of leaves. If you don't know what that is, mound up sand & put a leaf on it, mix some cement & put on the leaf, cover it with plastic & let it set. Its like a fossil, you can see the imprint of the leaf. We had banana tree leaves that were 3' long and elephant ear leaves that were over 2' wide. I can't wait to see them when they have dried.

I'm Totally Exhausted!

Posted on October 1, 2009 at 1:30pm 0 Comments

Well, I got the seeds planted in the garden. I still had energy left so I pruned some and planted some bulbs and a century plant. I was tired, but the day was still young, so my husband and I headed to our meadow and pulled some small stumps up with our "Weed Wrench." If you haven't seen one of these before and would like more info go to: http://www.weedwrench.com/PrinterFriendlyBrochure.htm.
I'm going to rest and read a good book now.

Working in the Garden

Posted on September 30, 2009 at 5:30pm 0 Comments

Today I worked in my garden planting greens. Tomorrow I'm planting seeds of radishes, spinach, and swiss chard to name a few. I'm looking forward to a fresh salad in a few weeks!
