Well seems our tomatoes have fallen victim to what is called late tomato blight. From what I've read on the internet it is widespread throughout the country. Had a bumper crop of tomatoes that I just had to throw away. Very upsetting, first time this has ever happened to me in the many, many years of gardening. The tomatoes have a gray, greasy spot on them and they just rot quickly. I cut back all the dying leaves on a few of the plants so see if the plants improve with new shoots. Probably not… Continue

Finally, we had a lot of much needed rain yesterday. I wasn't even upset that I took a day off work and it rained. I felt like going outside and jumping around I was so happy. But thought better of it, didn't want break any body parts:) Today it is going to be overcast, 92 and humid and tomorrow even hotter. Once the sun comes out, all the plants should be very happy. Help me decide. Do I keep this as a rose bed or incorporate some perennials? By the way the pillars look tilted but they aren't, just the angle of the photo.

Well, we finally had some good rain yesterday...not that drizzly stuff we've been getting lately. So it was off to the veggie garden to pull up weeds. We had put down roll roofing in the aisles so most of the weeds were creeping up from underneath. After the rain, the weeds came out nice and easy. Well this isn't the way I planned to spend the 4th of July, stuck in the house because it has been raining or should I say drizzling all day. Forced me to clean the house LOL. There hasn't been enough rain to do any good but enough so no gardening today, but there's always tomorrow. If the weatherman is right it is going to be sunny and 83.
