If I can find them I'll post the pics. It burned the netting from both ponds, burned the molded pond edge down to the water line, burned from about 4pm to 9pm we found out before we discovered the fire.

Thanks for the comeback. It gets down to about zero at times here. I have a stock pond deicer, about 1500watts. That all the farm store had. I'll look around for a smaller one. When my ponds had 5 inches of sleet and snow/ice on them, I set out the heater; it took 5 or 6 days to clear all the ice. I think the thermostat is preset at about 42 to 46 degrees. I probably don't need that, but my ponds are small and I have a 2ft albino catfish I want to keep healthy. Check out the larger picture of my fish globe, this has been the best idea I have had. But it can turn into a 12" magnifying glass and set your pond of fier if it's set in the wrong place.

"Pond on fire? Never thought about the magnifying glass effect. I had one of those bubbles, but the bigger koi weren't amused by it. You don't have the sustained cold temps we have, so ice is not as much a problem for you as it is here. You…"

"Hello, Freddy. I'm new to this but glad to be a part of it. Not much of interest to report from here in Illinois. The koi and their relatives are asleep til probably the end of April. I did learn a big lesson this winter about pond deicers that…"

Apple Tree

"Will the resulting fruit be true to the variety of the original apple? Fruit trees are grafted nowdays and most are hybrids. I thought that I heard that, when grown from seeds, they are not true to the original apple variety. My grand daughter would…"
