Hi Mary, Thanks for noticing my new Hosta. I order my plants from "Seeds of Change" organic nursery, "Forestfarm", and "High Country Gardens" mostly. I think under a tree is a lovely place to start. I obsessively willy~nilly started my garden 12 years ago when we built our small retirement home on 1/3 acre. Dirt & rocks. Not 1 living thing besides weeds. There were & are quite a few lovely boulders on the property though, and more in the 9 acre field behind it. My husband rented a backhoe W/ a front loader for some serious topography changes and brought in 3 more from the field before he built the fence. I started all the beds at a boulder, very helpful for watering. When Hostas are bought (well, mine anyway), they are in a 4" pot. So it is easy to plant under trees, doesn't injure the roots and then they get along fine. I got mine because one of my daughters, Desarae, loves the plants with big huge leaves. They require very little care from what I see and hear so far. I cut the flowers off for the house as soon as the buds show color. I have lots and lots of flowers, so I like the foliage plants to be just that. I see you are online now, so I will sign off so our chat will be for today. Take good care, Marian
