Springtime in Northern Virginia

Spring 2009 was a slow bloomer here in Northern Virginia. I couldn't plant flowers on Mothers Day like I typically do because it was too cold. Seems like it stayed cold until early June. I knew this year would be different when I spotted a Robin hopping around in the backyard in late January. Two weeks later, we had two massive snow storms that dumped more than 30 inches of the cold white stuff but by mid-April we had hit a record high of 93 degrees! "Tulips and Iris's are ready to burst open - hostas, day-lilies, and Black-eyed Susans are coming along nicely. Shrubs took a beating from the 30+ inches of snow we had in February. Tulips from Spring 2009."
