Nancy Hebb replied to Robert Gerlach Zone 5, Indiana's discussion Geranium leaves changing color in the group Zone 5
"sometimes the lower leaves turn yellow, especially if you have them in full sun. They really prefer some shade. If they are in well drained pots, I don't think they can get too much water."

"I envy your ability to get such a nice photo! I have sat--probably for hours -- attempting to get photos of the hummers at our feeders--with no luck. Congtats to you!"

Thanks for the compliment on our place. We do love it here. I am soon to be married (June 6th) and, when we first got engaged, I think my fiance wanted to look for a house together. However, it wasn't long before he became totally enchanted with this ol' place in the country, so this is where we will remain. Whew!
Funny, Nancy...I've heard from lots of people who tell me about the bunnies happily munching on their rabbit repellant plants! I don't really mind sharing with our woodland friends, so long as they leave something behind for me and mine! I have planted basil, 2 kinds of oregano, mexican sage, rosemary, and thyme, as well as some summer savory. I planted some seed just to see if I'd have any luck but, leaving nothing to chance, I put some plants in the ground too. Enjoy your vacation and I do hope that the rain holds off for you. I know y'all have had a very wet year. We have the opposite problem here, battling years of persistent drought. When you get back, I would LOVE for you to share your basil recipe with me. I love cooking as much as gardening.

Thanks Nancy! I am going to try that mixed with some other small fillers. I have a smaller garden also and am trying to fill it up to fast! I need to let everything mature before I start throwing stuff in there!

Hi, Nancy! Thank you for your advice. I have had a problem with some little vermin which has eaten every one of my cauliflower plants. I am hopeful that a smattering of herbs will deter any further invasion. What a beautiful sunset you have on your profile picture! Is that your own photographic handiwork? It is breathtaking! What zone is Canton in? We are in 7b...it was in the 90's here yesterday and I got a little sunburned working in the flower beds.
