It's beautiful but it may be a little too much. Especially at the very front of the property. It draws the eye away from the house; it takes away the beauty of the house itself. If it were me, I would prune down the evergreen shrub under the…
This is one plant. It is in its second year of growth in the picture. I don't do anything to it other than enjoy it. I do make sure that there are other plants at its base because I heard that they like their roots in the shade and their tops…
Wow! Is that all one plant or many? I planted a single Henry II this spring in zone 5 Kansas. It's just a couple of vines with a few blooms on it in August. How often do you feed your plant? Do you have to protect it over the winter?
We have a great farmers market nearby.the sellers are only allowed to sell things they've grown themselves. Love to go there. Since I mainly plant flowers most of our produce in the summer is bought from the farmers market. Sure beats the…
Another place to look for hostas is foxfire gardens.com. They are in Marshfield Wisconsin and I love going to their gardens and sales area. Their gardens are awesome and I get a lot of good ideas for shade gardening from going there. If you are ever…
I have a small summer cabin in Northern Wisconsin where I would like to do more gardening. The soil layer is very thin and over limestone. So far I have planted some Hostas, which the deer thank me for, and some Astilbe, which aren't doing…
I have lots of Allium. I'll have to try the spray paint technique. I usually leave them standing after they turn brown but a little spray paint would make them "pop" in the garden. Funky colors would be fun. Would look like fireworks…

About the letters and symbols when you upload your photos:
I had the same problem. I learned that if I needed to add a comment after the uploaded photo, or add a second photo to make sure the curser is back to the strat of a new line. Just press Add COMMENT button and the box will convert the letters and symbols to the correct image and verbage.
Hope this helps.

Hi Nilah, thanks for the nice compliment on the photos. I have never had an opportunity to garden and now I have been bitten by the bug and loving it. This website has also given me excellent tips, especially for composting and design. I am lucky to live in such a mild climate and there is a wonderful nursery nearby and I think I have been supporting it!! The garden is peaceful, I have a lovely songbird that sings to me while working, it is a break from all the goings-on in this world.
