What kind of gardening do you like to do?
Flowers(all kinds) and veg.
How much time do you spend a week on average in your garden when weather permits?
8 hrs.

Welcome to my page.

I moved from Arizona 2 yrs. ago to Ga.(my home state). so I have been trying to get my yard and flowers beds to grow something. I love daylilies and iris's.......so my family has been giving me lots of plants. I will take anything that's FREE,lol. Its a lot of work diging in this red clay but I love flowers so I will do whatever it takes to make them grow in it.
So look around and hope you like what I've done already..

You have beautiful daylilies. I see some along side the roadside that may have escaped in North Carolina, but are their some native ones?

Tomatoes are coming in soon; a bit late because I did them all from seed, but I'm excited. I've harvested broccoli recently and need to pull up all of my potatoes and onions. I only started beans two weeks ago - yes, way late, but we're not big bean eaters.

P.S.
I love your desert pictures they make me so nostalgic for my grandparents' home in southern Utah.

Patti, I would suggest you plan to plant perennials in the fall. That gives them cool weather to establish their roots before they have to survive to Georgia heat and drought. Bulbs that do well here need some freezing weather if they are to do well, so you will definitely want to plant them before the spring, particularly if you like daffodils and tulips. But trying to plant in this heat in late August is really an exercise in futility unless you plan to water daily (at least). At least that's been my experience.

HA!!! So my dance ALMOST worked, huh?

Thanks for the encouragement Patricia. I'll do a little rain dance for you....being 1/16th Cherokee may help in that regard :) We had a horiffic storm here yesterday that definitely cooled things down a lot. It's been overcast all day around Amelia Island today. Nice reprieve from the heat!!!
