"Bridget, I know it is late in the season for this comment, but I wanted to share with you and everyone else how I managed to make my Square foot garden. It does require a little bit of cutting and a little bit of drilling but it is really cheap in…"
"I haven't posted anything for some time here, but I have to let people know about a cool web site I found about six months ago. It's called growveg.com. It has a really cool garden planner that you can use to figure out where to put…"
"I planned on doing the winter sowing thing this year too, but it too long to get enough containers to do it, besides that the winter was too warm this year for it work as planned. and the cold snap we just had earlier on this week would have killed…"
"I bought the shelves from lowes, I aquired the lights from a company remodeling and getting rid of their cubical setup. I had to rewire the lights to plug into a nomal plug. I added the fan to help strenghten the plants and to minimize damping off.…"
This is going to be my second year at attempting to do the whole square foot gardening thing. I have plenty of room to grow enough for my whole family or at least I hope. But I wanted to try my hand at growing vertical this year to get even more. I am looking for ways to grow my veggies vertically that are easy, cheap and won't be an eye sore to the rest of the neighborhood. Does anyone out there have any ideas they care to share?See More
"I have 4 1 Gal milk containers so far, haven't planted anything though because the weather is so wacky right now. I don't want to plant them and they start to grow already because of how warm it is. If the weather does finally cool off and…"

"I too have been gardening for a couple of years. My garden is in the back of my yard on the edge of the wooded area behind my house. This summer I put in a 6" wire mesh barrier below my garden containers and I put up four posts at each corner,…"
"I am going to try this for the first time this year. I am still trying to get organized, and figure out what I can put out. But I assume that it is pretty much the plants that prefer the cooler weather any way. I have already started some of my…"
Winter Sowing is an easy seed germination method that allows you to start many seedlings for little cost. During the Winter months seeds are sown into mini-greenhouses that you make yourself from recycled containers, such as milk jugs, soda and juice bottles, take out food containers, etc. After sowing, the mini-greenhouse is placed outside to wait for the end of Winter. The seeds will begin to germinate at their own right time when weather warms. (Courtesy of WinterSown.Org)See More

"Josephine, I cover my deck & patio with very large containers so there is very little room for much else. My backyard is actually not much bigger than your yard-- with most of the lawn gradually removed! I just love to mix flowers up so they can…"
