This is my Spring starting point

The photo below shows the progress of our SqFt garden so far this year.  For the most part we have grown only the cold tolerant crops, easily seen here (Cabbage, Brocoli, radish).  The photo captures about 1/2 of one of my SqFt patches.  The red brick separates the two sections, each about 4 feet or so wide and 12 feet or so long.  The photo represents about 30% of my vegetable gardening space.  I haven't even used but about 50% of that at this time.  Mulch will be applied this weekend, as the…See More

Hi from Zone 8bZone 9. When I think Gardening, I think of the above topics...

But my landscape has many other wonders all year round! I have many Camelias (red, white, pink, varigated, simple, compound, double compound) in the winter time, Azaleas in the spring, and sweet smelling gardenia in the warm seasons. My property is covered with oak, pine, pecan, maple, walnut, and citrus trees. I have wonderful boxwood hedges leading up to my front door, Lagustrums border the south side of my vegetable garden.

The centerpiece of my front yard is a huge Magnolia, one of 3 in my landscape.

My driveway is lined with Camelia, the carport/parking area has a wonderful border of Crepe Myrtle which flower most of the year.

As time moves forward, I seem to want more edibles in the landscape, so I hope to plant some blueberries, more citrus, figs(perhaps). Unfortunately though I have 4 nut trees, I never see a single nut due to the thriving squirrel population.

Thanks for visiting my profile page!

Happy Gardening!
