I lived in Erie in the late 60's. I still have family in that area. My uncle taught at Gannon College. I'm in the pacific northwest now but Erie will always have a fond place in my heart.

I did try to find the variety, but failed. It could be a relatively new addition to the crabapple clan, the amount of fruit and the color are great! Perhaps the school system has record of what landscaping contractor provided them.

Richard, just checked out your pond and it is beautiful! My goal is trying to get mine covered with about as many plants as you have to control algae, but it's a bit slow getting it established. Any tips besides robbing a bank to buy water more water plants? I've got three water lettuce, 3 water hyacinth (hoping they'll multiply) , parrots feather, watercress, one wimpy lily.
