I would be very careful adding salt of any kind to the soil. My brother lives in Texas and can't grow anything because the soil is too salty. Better to use some type of rough material, pine needles, wood mulch, straw, any thing that's…
Please please please! What are those sweet flowers at the edges of the bed, that look like little red primroses w/ a yellow eye?!Those wide green leaves, never seen them before. Somebody tell me please! I'm in love.
I've found that sprinkling red pepper over the area where I plant bulbs is a deterrant to animals digging, but you have to replentish the pepper whenever it rains or there's other moisture. I also have used a mulch of evergreen clippings…
I've over wintered Rosemary in a large clay pot a couple of years now. The main thing is to keep it where you see it often and don't forget to water it. Rosemary doesn't like it too dry. I've kept mine in front of the patio doors…
I got a product from Menards that takes care of them if you put the little pieces in their holes as you find them. It's a poison of sorts and kills them when they eat it. It's a rodent control, but I don't remember the exact name and…
I love roses and yellow is my most favorite. I managed to get a picture of this one, though not as clear as I would have liked, before some nasty rabbit bit it off. They've been chewing all the leaves off my roses, so I had to put little fences…
I'm across the lake from you and considered zone 5. Have green tomatoes on, but that's about it so far. I did get my plants into the ground rather late. Started them from seed in the basement, then moved into the greenhouse when I had that…
Don't worry about it, I've been away myself. You are so blessed to be able to grow these.I wonder if they can take the heat and humidity of my zn10 in Miami Beach? Texas is humid too right? Our winters are less humid. We have our spring fr Nov thru--April. Wierd I know. LOL!

Oh thank you so much. It is so much fun to lookforward to getting mail. I want to see how these grow. Next year my husband and I are celebrating 25 yrs and he said we could redo our wedding. When we were married in Texas we were missionaries so our wedding was pretty basic and small. This time I would get to choose my gown. But if these grow tall enough I could used them as the archway for the wedding. I'm so excited!!
Thanks for answering so quickly.St Joseph is about 1 hr 15 min from Minneapolis. My youngest daughter lives there now. She is at the Arts Institute International. So we go pick her up nearly every weekend. I grew up in Iowa and then moved to Texas. Lived there for 9 yrs and moved back to MN with my new husband in 1989. I love it here. It would be great if you could send me the seeds - Donna Wood 1100 Dale St, St Joseph, MN 56374. Do you think I can still plant them for this year yet? I am still seeding from the seeds I harvested from last year. In fact today is the first day this year we have truned on the air. I look forward to hearing from you. Is you profile picture your yard??
