Oooh, I love the houses in Beverly (yours is lovely by the way ), I go through it on the train sometimes. I would like to convert a good portion of my yard to vegetables but the thought of "sodbusting" all that grass is daunting so I haven't started that project but with grocery prices going up and the local food movement burgeoning I want to get going on that.

We moved from Oak Park  (Tiny Yard) to Orland Park (Huge Yard) 4 years ago. I've been trying to turn my acre of lawn into something more welcoming and intimate but didn't realize the work involved and can't afford a proffessional landscaper. Maybe in 10-15 years or so I will accomplish this feat. I see you're in Chicagoland also?

"Ron, what an amazing flower on this vine. Like Nina, I too would love to know the name of this vine, as it is one I have never seen before."

"Hi Elizabeth-   The plant is called Gooseneck Loosestreif. You see the goose head form to the stalk. I like the form and the leaves, but its very intrusive and has to be rippred out pretty savagely to keep it under control."
