While in this site, I recieved info from Maris who steered me to Milky Spore powder and Geraniuns. As I stated you can purchase at local hardware store.
Spread around your flower beds/gardens. Also Maris indicated that if I plant white geraniums around my roses the Japanese Beetle do not like these flowers.. Last year I had a real problem. They destroyed my roses.
It was also suggested that I keep a bucket filled with soapy water and I take beetles off my roses early morning and drown them. :(

For more info::
Take a look at my blog in Roses under Groups and look at my blog on, ''Zone 5 - Problem with Japanese Beetles" The blog will give you more information.

I am in District 7 in the Monroe and Van Born area. I've lived here 5 years. I lived in Plymouth before that!

Hi Roseanne, nice to hear from you. Did you get your pond done? That is the only feature that I do not have, that I wish I had....is some sort of water feature. I just wouldn't know where to start with that. I guess the first step is to get an electrician to install safe connection device.

Oh please don't leave me alone! lol

I'd just hang them near where the beetles are. Wren's eat mostly bugs, so they'll be happy to hang near the source. I use the metal shepherd's hooks that are about four to five feet tall. Right now I have two couples in the back yard and one in the front! It may take a while - so don't be discouraged - as the wren's send out scouts in early spring and tend to return year after year if there is food, water and shelter nearby.

Your money arrived yesterday - thank you SO much - I purchased a beautiful yellow columbine that I may not have gotten without your wonderful gift!

I hope the bird houses fill quickly and the wrens help resolve your beetle problem ASAP!

Wow - that was fast - I just mailed them yesterday!! I think three should give you a good start - locate them in three separate areas in your yard and you should have wrens soon!

Sorry, I thought i answered the butterfly bush question - anyway, mine aren't showing any signs of life yet - but I'm giving them more time - they do sleep late and bloom late in the summer - so I give them lots of time, but bought another one just in case!

I have three BH gourds in a box - will mail them tomorrow. I marked where you should cut the hole - a regular paring knife will work.

I'm not sure about the butterfly bush - I have two and neither of them is showing signs of life - I do know they wake up late in spring - and bloom late in summer - so give it more time.
