Sounds of Summer

A warm, sunny afternoon, great time for "walkies" with Lady in Saratoga Park, our little neighborhood green space. As we're going along the crushed gravel path, me in my Jazzie and Lady in a halter and 20' leash, I'm noting the different sounds around us. The wind rustling through the leaves; the crunch of gravel under the Jazzie wheels; birdsongs - cheeps, chirps, tweets; buzz of bees; clicking of crickets; the jingle of Lady's dog tags; Lady huffing and puffing…

Well I don't know if I'll get this right since I am computer challenged. I saw this cartoon and want to share with you all. Gardeners by necessity must have a good sense of humor. Now retired after 40+yrs of working in a service industry -gas stations/convenience store manager- my sense of humor kept me relatively sane and still does. To Elizabeth Knight - canvas board is just like a heavy duty cardboard with a canvas simulated front, available at any craft store.
To MJ Seibert - it is a tree fungus ; it returns every year on a dead tree stump and is inedible but always produces a large (this one was a foot across) pad or two. always a interesting shape.
To Kristin Pz5lA - I should have made it clear that it is not in my garden but a outdoor display at a fountain store in Clarence Ctr. NY next to the bicycle… Continue

In fact Sat. was gorgeous in the high 70s/low humidity. I've been to the Glassworks it is an amazing place! Glass dating back to the beginning of time on up to now. Astounding collection. Completely accessible. Watkins Glenn area is nice but not a whole lot of things accessible(Hiking trails etc...)Unless they've changed things. It's been some time since I've been. - Hey Upstate Upstart, Where you been? I, like Billy Joel, have been in a "New York State of Mind!" I, of course thought of my NYS friends on G.I. I got to meet Wanda Burnett yesterday as we had an outing to the mansion and grounds called Montgomery Place. Ah, how the rich lived!!! It was beautiful and had sweeping views of the Hudson river.
