Nope, that 4 different kinds of lettuce, and the flowering plants in the middle are Mustard plants that have bolted, (i grow them for the mustard seeds, not the greens). And thanks!

I made the ice cream using the Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker. (on sale great price at Kohl's)

2 cups fresh strawberries sliced thin, 3 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 cup sugar divided, 1 cup of whole milk, 2 cups heavy cream, 1 teaspoon of vanilla.

Combine strawberries with lemon juice and 1/3 cup of the sugar, stir gently and allow the strawberries to set in the juices for 2 hours.

Use a hand mixer or whisk to combine the milk and the sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the heavy cream and any accumulated juice from the strawberries and the vanilla.

Turn the machine on, pour the mixture into the freezer bowl, and mix until thickened, about 30 minutes. Add the sliced strawberries during the last 5 minutes of freezing.

I like to then put it in the freezer for about an hour for a firmer set.

I've only ever made ice cream the old fashion way until my 14 year old spotted this electric ice cream maker on clearance at Kohl's and to top it off I bought it with Kohl's cash. What a deal! It makes great ice cream!

It sounds like you and my son have caught the same "bug". He lives in St Louis and just started farming last year. He is doing the same as you. Last year was the trial and error of planting. He is also into the canning and dehydrating. Right now he is driving 75 miles to work the land on his girlfriends parents farm. This is all have for me to believe since when living in the Pittsburgh area he NEVER cut the grass - not even once. He starts all his own seeds and spend much time on the computer doing research on how to grow etc. Heirloom seeds are the only thing he planted last year and he said this year he now knows how to protect the growth for all his own seeds for the future. Good luck with the plastic - I will be hoping for NO WIND so it is easier to manage.

Hello again, I know Spring is coming...but...the thrill this week is I saw the sun and I am now waiting for the big increase in the temps. haha Gonna be warm on Friday. Well atleast the snow might melt off the roof and bird feeder. Oh, and the catfish in my pond will be glad to see the sky instead of the ice cover. Guess you will be seed hunting soon...do you start all your own plants? Hubby and I do go to cranberry once in a while to eat, but that is it. Have a relative in that area also.

Thanks for adding me as a friend :) I was looking through your photos and saw the mushroom photo. I am trying to get into mushroom hunting, myself. Found some Shaggy Manes last fall, and also found a really nice Chicken of the Woods, but didn't know at the time what that one was so I'll have to look for it next year ;).
