Elena Williams replied to Sue Allen's discussion Zone 3/4 First time with roses, what do I do now? in the group Roses
"What kind of roses do you have? Tender Hybrid Teas and Floribundas or shrub roses? Are they in pots or in the ground? Don't try to bring them in the house. That is a real hassle and you end up with a week plant next spring because it did not go…"

"My vote is yes. A very good website is piosonivy.com (and yes that is the correct spelling p-i-o-s-o-n). It has in depth explanations, pictures, links etc. And an FYI for those that have the misfortune that I had this late spring. My feet and legs…"

"You can google milkweed seeds and lots of websites will come up. Then you have to choose the appropriate milkweed for your area. (there are lots of milkweeds) Are you trying to attract Monarchs, I guess? Good luck!"

"Hi Jesse, Where do you get the milkweed seed from? I want to add it to my place. And is it something you have to do in the fall? I remember milkweed was in abundance when I was a kid but I hardly see it anymore."

Joan weed, Z5, VT replied to Sue Allen's discussion Canna and gladiolas in the group Perennials
"After the frost has killed the tops, dig them up and store them in a cool but not freezing place. Experts say to surround them with peat moss or the like but I have found a paper bag works perfectly fine--or a cardboard box. You can check them…"

Canna and gladiolas

I posted this on Zone 3 site but there doesn't look like much activity there so I'm reposting here. I live in west central Wisconsin. We've had frost and (ugh) snow. This is my first year growing canna and glads. Can anyone tell me what do I do now? I know I'm suppose to dig them up, I just don't know when to do it. And what to do with them after they're dug up. Any advice?

Zone 3/4 First time with roses, what do I do now?

This is my first time growing roses. I live in west central wisconsin. How or what do I do to winterize my roses? Also, I have roses that didn't get planted. Can I bring them in the house over winter. Is there any special care that they need if they are in the house. I was told that they need to freeze first....Help please!
