"Here it is late August and I'm finally seeing some hummers. Saw maybe 4 all summer. Today they are enjoying the new sugar water I put out yesterday. So glad to see them even if it is at the end of the season! They are always a welcome site."

"FINALLY saw my first hummer of the season at one of my feeders Sunday afternoon (very late for Central Tex). Haven't caught a glimpse again but at least I now have hope!"

"Charlie - Maybe you could try slathering Vaseline on the post below the birds nest. Sometimes I do that on the hummingbird feeder hanger to keep the ants out of the feeder. They get stuck in the Vaseline."

I see that you live in Round Rock, TX...My son & daughter in Law live in Round Rock as well. I always hear how hot & humid it is there...We're from MI & winter in FL and find TX to be a lovely state indeed! Round Rock is so pretty! Love your springs...those wild flowers are awesome! Our MI hummers should be heading South soon. They've had a fairly hot summer up here in MI as we've had more than ususal 90s days all summer long! Enjoyed your baby bird pictures!

"I used to take mine in for the winter and store in the garage.  A couple of years ago, I planted in my beds and left them out all winter.  They did much better.  I'm a Zone 5 in South/Central Indiana - Seymour. "
