Spring 2010

Strawberries were coming on before we left on vacation. We were eating lettuces, cabbages, broccoli, some beets, and onions. I am hoping to have the leeks, fennel, and beets ready upon return.

Susie Bell replied to Susan Ley's discussion advice on how to keep rabbits from eating my plants. in the group Zone 6
"I put a rabbit fencing around my vegetable garden and it works for the most part. Every now and then a small bunny jumps through it, but the damage is so negligible. What are they eating? If it's ornamentals, can you plant something else? We…"

"This is the herb bed. It is right outside the back door, closer than the veggie garden. Of course it has flowers, too. I also put my houseplants out here during the growing season. they love it."

Entered my first orchid show with this orchid. I was writing up cards, not really taking much notice of the judges fussing around my orchid. Turns out that the parentage of this orchid goes back to the species by only 4 generations and it has won…
