Replanting After a Hard Texas Freeze

There was so much freeze damage from the colder than usual winter we had here. We had to rip out so much plus we removed the sago palms because of that nasty white scale that we have treated last year and got rid of but is back. It is too much of a pain for a palm that is deadly to the touch. Big welts on the skin where it pokes me!! I am slowly replacing plants and trying to figure out what I want to do. It's like having a semi-clean canvas that has been sitting there waiting for someone to…See More

Lily of the Nile

I live in Sugar Land TX. I was wondering if anyone knows how Lily of the Nile grows in this area? Lowes had some blooming and they were beautiful but none of the containers had tags. I need to know sun, partial sun info mainly and if you have any other words of wisdom you think I might need to know.  I am trying to replace a rather large amount of plants on the berm behind my pool that died over this unusually cold winter. Thank you!!

The Heat is Gone, Let the Gardening Begin!!

Posted on September 16, 2009 at 2:19pm 0 Comments

Tuesday was our first meeting for the 2009-2010 season of garden club. We had a great speaker from one of the growers here. She was showing slides and going over some of the plants she is supplying for our plant sale on Saturday. It sure makes you wish you had an acre or 2 or 3......... I walked around the garden this morning pulling the uninvited weed here and there, while trying to find a place to put a few of the plants that I really, really wanted. But they are just too big and I would have… Continue

You're welcome, you were the first person I thought of to invite. I am not sure when I found this site. The other day I came across it on facebook and was surprised to learn I was already a member when I registered. Have no recollection of that, oh well... Yes we are drying out up here... wow what a rainstorm. My wildflower seedlings loved it, had a few more Bluebonnets sprout. Next year it should look very nice in my little meadow :)
