Fran Barnett said… that will be so fun atthe orchid show. I must check and see when they will be having one down here. i just went to a new nursery that i found. it had the reed orchids. but, i was looking for a different color than i alreay have. only found the orange. i must go to micheals today. i'm having an addiction to my garden right now. won't be showing any pics for a bit, my camera is broken. i went to dollar general today to look at garden decor. you must go, it is very cheap and unique. i got a old shoe that is a planter that has two frogs sitting on the front of the shoe. love it! only cost $8. go check it out! next week probably tuesday i will b sending u orange reed orchid. you don't have to send anything, i'm running out of room.
Yvonne what I do before I put my seeds into the soil is soak them on a wet paper towel for 2 or 3 days or longer. You can wait until you see the seeds sprout on the paper towel then put into soil. Hope this will help
Grant Meyer USDA zone 9 said… Hi again, let us know what you do with the orchid and how it works out. I'm sure it'll thrive for you. I don't have any orchids here as they really resent our very very low humidity. Happy gardening! :)
Grant Meyer USDA zone 9 said… Hiya! Well, I'm conflicted about that ice cube idea. I don't think an orchid would like water that cold, but I DO think it would like the nice, slow soak. I think if you can make sure to give it a nice gentle watering either way it would be happy. Good luck and post lots of pics! :)
Fran Barnett said… hi yvonne, so, you must love orchids also.i'm especially in love with the ground orchids. i would be happy to send you a baby or keike. I have a bright orange ground orchid also. I will take a pic and display it tomorrow. Just let me know when you would like me to send it to you.
