yup raised bed is the way to go, i have noticed once trees get established they seem to do well even when they get down to the clay...

I am so new, I have no opinion. I do know that at least those in Fla don't usually have issues with drought as we know it, nor is the heat quite so bad. But heat and humidity are not a good combo either.

Where am I?

I am pretty sure we are in zone 10 here in Mesa AZ, but I am not certain. We have heat, drought, and poor soil topping lea-ca (spelling uncertain, but is a clay covered by a thing top soil that is not very good.) We are going to try raised beds this year, hopefully. I am now doing container gardening, but no success so far due to my poor health and the weather. And advice or ideas are welcome.
