"The Cymbidiums do need cold temps to set the buds. We live in Virginia and we leave ours outside.  They can take it down to 35 and prefer that for setting buds.  Our plants bloom every year.  Feeding is also very important.  But…"

"Hi Hildegrarde found out that is the kind I have. And no blooms on mine yet either. Think they bloom in the winter. You can take them outside from what I understand like Christmas cacti."

"I read that the seeds are poisonous, so if you use them for craft purposes, make sure they cannot dislodge and be eaten. Also, some say the leaves have toxins, you may want to use gloves when working around this plant."

"Pull them off, throw them out.  Are you crafty?  I save canna lily seed and use them for beads.  They can be glued on dried gourds for a decorative touch.  Maybe you can do something similar with the wisteria seed."

Dwarf fruit trees

Posted on October 29, 2009 at 6:55am 0 Comments

This spring I started a Brown Turkey fig & a dwarf peach tree in pots. They grew quite well. I 'm wondering if any of my Zone 5 gardeners have any sugestions as to what I should to to winterize them. I would like to just bring them in the garage. My garden center told me to plant them in a sunny location in my garden. However the first of Dec. I am going in to have both my knees replaced. Right now it is rather difficult to do any digging.

This is John Wagner and it will work till about june than I use Bayer incest and diesese control once every 6 weeks till the end of season, Till today I still got roses blooming on the knockout rose. The sulfer spray kills the over wintering blackspot and later the Bayer protects against bugs and blackspot too, I used to have a strong case of blackspot here in the rose garden till sulfer spray!, Happy gardening John

Just bring your geraniums inside and plant them in pots. Place them in sunny windows and don't overwater. They bloom all winter and are ready to be placed into the garden next season. Best, Kathy
