judy hard replied to marilyn kowalski's discussion How to use the products of Vermiculture? in the group Composting & Vermicomposting (worms)
"Hi Marilyn, the ratio of castings to water to make a tea is 5-1. One part castings. Castings will never burn so yes you can use them in any quantity. Using all castings though is not a good idea as water absorbtion to the plant doesn't happen…"

judy hard commented on Marianne Barrowman's group Composting & Vermicomposting (worms)
"Sherri, That's so cool you compost items that have food value. What's so great about the worms is that they uniformly grind the food they eat, and what they eat determines what goes into your garden. I bet yours is the best around! Judy"

"I'm envious of you all talking about composting, I assume with leaves. I live in an area with few trees and miss the days when there were many dead leaves on the ground to rake and jump in. My horses left overs have replaced leaves. I really…"

"Hi Susie, I'm envious of your garden in Fla. We had such a wild season of weather. Everything from huge amounts of rain, cooler temps and of course all the hail you could want(not). How is your soil down there? Ours is different every 10 feet.…"

"For Voles I've heard that Juicy Fruit gum kills them.  Also, you can get small metal wind pin wheels that you stick in the ground and it drives them away. http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf38571407.tip.html  I've pitch forked them…"

Donna H 5-6/CT commented on Geoffrey Ives's blog post The Basil Seedlings Send Their Regards: My Life With Slugs
"My veggie garden is easy...its mulched in straw and newspaper. No weeds, just hordes of slugs. I had a wet spring last year...but no where near this amount of infestation or destruction. The bucket-o-death was enough for it last year. This year,…"
