"It is called a Plumbagos. My book says that the best conditions are zones 9-10, full to partial shade and average to well drained soil. Mine dies back during the winter, in fact I lost one last year."

centeral IL weather

Posted on May 16, 2009 at 10:00am 4 Comments

With all the high winds and down pours of rain we are getting is not to good for our vegetable garden. One part of it is under water so I really don't think our peas and green beans are going to come up at all. Hopefully it dries up soon and we can raise that part of the garden and sow the seeds again!

Thanks for the encoragement. I probably have as many garden failures as successes. Fortunately whenever a plant dies it gives me the opportunity to try something new. Since the building of the garden is the real fun then I guess that it's OK to fail sometimes.

Good morning...I would imagine you are up and going with a business to tend to and your life that surrounds it.....Im getting ready to leave for a dog show......
I've been gardening since my early 20's, never can get enough....you are sure right, tending the earth, listening to all the sounds of Her inhabitants, the smells, the sensations......just fills me full. Seems like the more I learn, the more I share, the more I reap. You're right as well, always more to learn.
As I recall, the classes are only offered once or twice yearly, I went thru them in the late winter early spring.......but things change, that was back in the late 80's.
I am happy for you....always wanted to do what you are doing, my X didn't want to do most anything I suggested, so I just gardened......now I have a supportive husband who pretty much let's me do my thing.......ha, wouldn't make any difference now, after 34 years with the other, I've learned too that I have the right to enjoy my life......
Looking forward to hearing how you do with your "baby"....please keep in touch from time to time......you'll do great! Bev
