Dracut is on the border of NH between Lowell and Lawrence, two bigger industrial cities. There are still a number of bigger farms in Dracut and a lot of home gardens. We have chickens year round and live on the next block from a pig farm. Chicken keeping is interesting in the winter when they don't lay eggs but still need daily care. It is all worth it when the days get longer and they start laying again.
Dracut has managed to stay pretty "countrified" amidst two big cities.
"Yes, this season extended fall into holidays here. I just put my canna lilies away in the garage today after freezing last nite. I won't know how they managed until spring, but some will live. So sorry your rhododendron died. I got the fuchsias…"
