summers almost over

as we await for the harvest season, and mother nature to sigh a cool relief, for the trees this is a time of characture. Our work begins.Cleaning up beds, planting fall bulbs. Anxiety>> were we happy with our summers garden? what to do for spring? how will our gardens look in the winter? So many questions Im sure this web site will be awfully busy for the next few weeks. As for me ...looking forward to the beautiful colors and brisk smells of the cold air of fall.

I remember when I felt the same as you do. Things will come in time. The most important thing is to ENJOY!

Rita,
I have been gardening for three years and have made oodles of mistakes! For me, there’s nothing more exciting than the anticipation of an emerging bud’s transformation into a gorgeous flower. Those rewards far overshadow my failures and challenge me to keep my chin up and try again. With numerous web/internet sources and friends on sites like Gardner’s Index, we are destined to succeed!

Rita, also, go to pictures here on GI, put in conifer as a search argument and you'll get 3 pix. A gal has two of them and looks to be very knowledgeable on dwarf conifers and looking at her pix you can probably pick her brain pretty well.

Hi Rita-It takes a little bit of time finding your way
around GI but then it becomes easier. I would wait on the iris. they don't like to be too wet.
Thanks, Nancy

Rita goodmorning and happy moms day ! I think if its barbberry bushes (the best filling is well it depends on your taste in color too) how about white as a filler than white petunias or geraniums or white caladiums, now if its blue color a daisy aster or sage or lobelia as an annual, now if it an evergreen I always try to keep it together in soil department so I think the an ornamental grass that will highlight the center like zebra grass surrounded by some snapdragons drawf red is good, the grass will be tall and annuals small. The grass and snapdragons will take the soil type too. John
