"It is "vitex agnus-castis" or "Chaste" tree from the Mediterranean and southern Europe. It is easily trimmed using the same pruning techniques that are used on any blooming woody shrub. It is a very tough small tree!"

Can I trim this tree? It is August in the state of GA. Butterfly bush which is like a tree with a large trunk.

This tree is twice the size now. I was told to prune to 4 feet which would eliminated most of the bloom and branches. Although, seeing it grow as fast as it did, it will flourish again fast. Another question, this does not look like a bush. Is there a different name for this tree?ThanksSee More

"Can I prune this tree now in the month of August in the state of GA.? It is now twice as big/wide. They keep telling me this is a butterfly bush but it's a tree as you can see. The trunk is also getting thick. 5" around."

"It is ruellia brittoniana, as my dear old (departed) friend Leonard Tharp would say "watch out or one morning you'll wake up and that plant will be in bed with you..." it can be very invasive!"

Help Have three that is about 2' to 3' high. I have been reading and trying to get advice on whether I should prune or leave them alone.Read that if you decide to prune, go above the Y.

I see that the outer bark is starting to shed and looks dormant but seeing green stalks inside.. Had a harsh winter here in Georgia (Zone 8) and wondering if they will survive.…

Thank you for answering my question. I do see that this plant has flourished and will be taking one out and transplanting in another area. I'm hoping to do this this weekend and hoping it is the right time. In Zone 7, Georgia and I read that I can do this now. Should I also trim? How much? Planting in Georgia is quite different than the state of New York. Thank you
