Hello fellow gardeners. I am about to get ready to post pics of my garden for this year. I am so excited because it has been through this site and all of your help that my garden actually looks like the dream garden I have always wanted. Thank you.

However I am about to plant some ajuga and have been reading up on the plant. I've read that it is a pretty invasive gound cover and I don't really want it to overtake a whole area. Could I possibly plant it in the ground in larger pots so that it doesn't spread so much? And would that hurt it if it got root bound? I've attached a pic of where I would like to put them. For now I have just set them on the ground. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you friends. I actually did plant them but in another area. They still look nice and probably much better when they fill in. I'll post pics soon.

I have a variey in my shade garden. It took a couple of years to really spread, but once it took hold, it fills in open areas nicely. Easy to tranplant and pull if it begins to spread to the grass areas. I find it a nice ground cover.

Looks like you have the variegated variety, possibly burgundy glow? Most Ajuga hybrids are not as aggresive as the original species..I think they would be very complementary to your design.

I have found that it spreads like crazy, but is very shallow rooted. It can be easily yanked out. Now, if it were to get into the lawn, that is much harder. Your brick border should help that. Around here, it doesn't always "take" when planted. maybe 1 out of 10 won't come back. Good thing is, the volunteers can be moved to the bare spots.
