Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and find it very interesting. I have been gardening since I was a kid with my dad in the backyard garden and have continued in my adult life. I am awaiting the arrival of my first order of bee's and a hive due the first part of April. I am new to bee keeping and have done a couple of years of research on this hobby before jumping into it. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there on this site who have a hive or two to help out with their gardens. I would enjoy hearing from you or anyone that is interested in bee keeping.

Have wanted a beehive forever - put up a mason bee house last fall, so hopefully they will find their way to it. I'm trying to decide whether to try a Langstroth or Top Bar hive. Haven't had time to take the top bar class and I'm nervous about spending hundreds of $$ only to cause the deaths of 2000 bees - guess I'm not ready to take the plunge yet!

Thanks for stopping by Brenna, debbie, and Cynthia. I will post as I get more active with the hobby. I plan on picking up the hive in two to three weeks and get it put together. The bees will be here the first weekend in April. It should be interesting, I don't have a fear of bees but then again have never been exposed to 2,000 - 3,000 at one time.

I'm afraid of bees, but fascinated by the hobby. Can't wait to hear how you do with your hives.

I just saw the secrete life of bees. Such as sad, but still really good movie. I hope you keep updating about this hobby as you learn about it. My father used to have coupel hives, and really enjoyed the hobby.
