I'm headed up North today. My best friend's father passed this week. Nila has been my friend so long I don't remember how we got started or exactly how old we were. When we were growing up I was either at her house, or she was at mine. I have some really funny pictures that measure our changes through the years, some of them are absolutely hilarious :) I just know that out of all the people in my life, she's my touchstone. We've had our ups and downs and we're constant. When my dad died, she was the first one there. When I lost my job, she was the first one there. We're miles apart and do not speak or see each other as much as we would like to, but we both know the other is there. It's like we are connected by an invisible thread that is absolutely indistructable. Best friend does not seem to cover it. She's my sister.
